Music And The Arts

Music and the Arts are an important part of life at The Swan. As well as having intrinsic value in terms of students’ wider cultural appreciation, participation in such activities helps students to develop their creativity, resilience, and team-work skills amongst many other things. Performing together is a powerful way that we strengthen our school community.

During years 7 to 9, Swan students have two hours of class music lessons per week. In addition, they are able to participate in extra drama and music as part of our electives programme. Staff and students regularly sing together as part of assemblies and we put on termly performances to showcase our students’ hard work and talent to a wider audience.

We are fortunate to have a team of fantastic peripatetic (visiting) music, speech, and drama teachers who offer additional group or individual lessons.
