At the end of last term, Swan cygnets and staff celebrated Christmas jumper day. In exchange for wearing their Christmas jumper, people were asked to bring a donation to the local food bank in order to help those in our local community who are in need at this time of year. To prepare, we had a lunchtime discussion the week before about what kind of things might be good to donate.
We were overwhelmed by the students’ generosity and were able to make a sizeable donation to the Community Emergency Foodbank (CEF), which was gratefully received.
This week, Jane Benyon, who runs CEF, sent us a lovely message of thanks to our students:
On behalf of the Trustees of CEF, I would like to thank you and your colleagues for the generous donations of food that you collected for our work over the Christmas period. We had the busiest December we have ever experienced at the foodbank since opening in 2008. We provided meals for over 400 people so I can assure you your donations have been well used.
It was great to see our staff and students demonstrating the school value of kindness, and we hope that this will continue in years to come.
