On Monday, we were visited by Emma Johnson as part of The University of Oxford’s Oxplore programme. The aim of the programme is to help students become more aware of the range of options available to them after they leave school, as well as helping them better understand what university can offer.
All students participated in a 45 minute workshop on advanced thinking skills to help them practise some of the skills that are required to access higher education. Through a scaffolded activity, they were able to debate the question of whether footballers should be paid more than nurses. The discussion was very lively! We also had an assembly, which looked at what university is like as well as some myth-busting about Oxford University.
We are very grateful to Oxplore for this opportunity, which was very thought-provoking.
